Mission Statement: To provide quality parks, golf courses and recreation facilities and opportunities to meet the recreational needs and interests of urban and rural residents throughout Shawnee County.

Administrative Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday


  • Community Centers: Youth and adult programs, arts, crafts, fitness, educational and leisure services; programming in USD 450, USD 345, USD 437, and USD 501 schools and other facilities throughout Shawnee County
  • Sports and Athletics: Year-round youth and adult athletics
  • Special Events: Year round for all ages
  • Senior Adults: Trips, fitness and classes
  • Parks: Shelters, swimming, boating, fishing, golf, campground, and Ted Ensley Gardens
  • Adaptive recreation & inclusion services for youth and adults: providing people with differing abilities the opportunity to participate in quality recreation programs

Eligibility: Structured activity begins at three years of age with no maximum age restriction

Fees: Certain programs require fees

Funding: Taxes, user fees, liquor tax, and public/private partnerships
