Mission Statement: The Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC) serve low income and first generation adults who need assistance with enrolling in a GED program and/or post secondary educational program of their choice (i.e., vocational, community college, university).

Hours:  8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday, and by appointment


  • Educational Opportunity Centers counselors assist clients with the selection of a training program and help with enrollment in the appropriate college, vocational technical school or GED program.
  • One-to-one counseling and educational workshops are provided. Services include career counseling/assessment, academic advising; information on educational programs and financial assistance; assistance in completing applications for admissions and financial aid; and, GED information and preparation.

Eligibility: The Educational Opportunity Centers serves people in Shawnee, Douglas and Wyandotte counties in Kansas.  People accessing services must meet federal income guidelines, and/or have parents who have not graduated from a four-year college with a bachelor’s degree.

How to Apply: Call to schedule an appointment.  Advisors are available to meet at various locations throughout Topeka.
